New year, more posts

At least, that's the idea. With everything I've been doing to clean the house and keep it clean (see my Memoirs of a Slob blog), I've been busy doing work that doesn't involve working on projects. Which I think is very unfortunate. So, some updates for the month: - I still am trying to loose the extra poundage. To this end, I have moved the PS2 back into my bedroom. My boyfriend, Matthew, gave me his DDR pad last year, as he's not allowed to use it. Something about sounding like a herd of elephants, as his bedroom is on the second floor. So, my plan is to try losing some weight this winter through exercise through DDR. Some of my friends have told me it can give you an awesome workout, so I'm going to give it a whirl. One thing that I have learned, however, is that my reflexes stink. XP Now, I have a list of things that I plan to get accomplished this year. Thus far, it is printed in 12-point font and takes up a full sheet of paper. about 3/4 of the list has two items per line. I'm not sure if this list is done, or if I'm just done for, but I've already been able to check 4 items off the list, so things are looking up. Thus far, I have organized all my embroidery floss (so I can get some cross stitching done, finally!), I've alphabatized my CDs and DVDs, I've updated my list of video games and made sure I have photographs on file for them, and I've updated my list of DVDs. Next up, listing my CDs, my books, the musical instruments, my tools, my ceramic items, my little toys (PVC figures and similar) and a lot of other items. Yay! :D Also, I have determined that I want to go back to schoool this fall sememster. So, I have started refreshing myself with mathematics through a computer program I have. I need to find a note book that I wrote down what I discussed with my school counselor, and the contact information for the person I need to email. So, back to sorting papers and magazines I go! :D

As 2012 comes to a close...

I start figuring out what I want to do and get accomplished in 2013! I hope to be updating here more often. This might hit a snag some time this year, as I plan to start house hunting for something in the country enough that I can do ceramic firing using the pit method (as I'm very inexperience at ceramics and don't want to dump a lot of money into a kiln at this point). Granted, I wouldn't be able to move right away; I'd primarily be using said house as studio space for myself and my sister, maybe have some friends stay there, until my folks are more financially stabilized again. Still, good time to look, I think. But this mean I need to get prequalified, and then I have to get preapproved, and *then* I can start--panicking? ^^; Yeah. *ahem* Anyway, housing desires aside, I was actually considering the idea of posting work-in-progresses herein, instead of just the finished pieces. Any thoughts about this? Meanwhile, I have my to-do list made for the year. It's primarily 12-point font, divided into four sections, 3/4 of it is done in two rows, and it takes up a full printed page. I have the following sections: -Cleaning and oganization. This is kinda self-explanatory; I have notes and papers dating from projects and classes running all the way back through high school. These are going to be sorted through, scanned into my computer and transfered to my back up hard drive. If my computer is capable of it, Ill burn them onto disc, too; gotta check my drive specs first though. This list also includes organising my embroidery floss, which is current sorted into four color sections (red/orange, purple/blue, green/yellow, and black/brown/white) in a 6" x 16" x 16" plastic box. I'm wasting time sorting through it for the colors I need, so I'm going to get them all carded and labeled with the color. Whee~! -Back-up and Recovery. Not quite so self-explanatory. Basically, it's a list I need to keep track of what posession lists I've updated and which I have to make. This is primarily in case of theft, fire, or other house destruction, for insurance purposes. One of the guys I watch on FA works for an insurance company, and one of the primary things they have to get from you in the case of item replacement is documentation that you actually owned what you're claiming. So, photographic records. A lot of them. Yay? -Projects. The projects I want to at least start, if not finish, during the course of the year. Most of them are projects for new items in my store for at conventions, but not all of them. I've actually had to pencil in two things I forgot when making my list. Luckily, they're both relatively easy; one is repainting my floor lamp from work gold and brown to silver and sage green, though, and that has to wait until spring (I think? I need to ask my mom about that...). I've been meaning to repaint the lamp for about 4 years now, though; with it on my list, hopefully it'll actually get done! XD -Goals. This mostly has to do with studying, learning new things, and picking up my learning where I left off. I've opened my Genki I textbook about 5 times since I bought it almost ten years ago - it's past time I get through it and move onto the second book! This list also has things like getting my bicycle tuned up and being more active, language and music goals, that kind of thing. Overly ambitious? Maybe. Still, I've already checked one thing off the list, so things are looking up, I'd say. :) Oh, and I've also rearranged my room for the new year! I turned my captain's bed so it now has a long side and the head against walls, instead of just the head. I had to reinforce it, you see; apparently, my rolling over so much was causing some things to pull apart, and I have been known on occassion to sleep like an egg beater, so to speak. The metal shelving unit is gone, and the one bookcase is now at the foot of the bed. I now have a much larger area of clear floor space! The cats don't seem to know quite what to make of it. XD The down side of this is that to complete my back-up and recovery section, I'll have to move the book case in order to get some of my items out from under the bed to list and photograph them. C'est la vie, I guess? Happy New Year! :D

Of Course it is.

Well, they have announced the venue and time for the 2013 My Little Pony Fair that I've been hoping to go to. Indianapolis, Indiana sounds like it'll be a good place for us! On the down side, it's also the same weekdn as Anthrocon, which is something of a staple for me. If for no other reason than becuase I get to see my boyfriend Matt. So now we get to figure out how we're going to do this. I was going to be the driver for at least one other person, not to mention my sister. She's all for the pony con, but the other one would have been going to AC with us. Matt has suggested he could run the AC table, if I decide to do that, and I would see him a few days, but I'm still trying to figure out the logistics of this. Quite frankly the pony con wins out, mainly becuase it's closer and less expensive. So instead of going to AC this year, I will definitely be going to the MLP Fair. I just wish it was a different weekend, you know? Ah well. Can't have everything, right?

About time!

Actually, past time. I have not updated this, or any of my blogs in a long time. It's ironic, really; I have high-speed internet, and a smart phone, yet I stay away from the internet for weeks at a time. Especially when I'm at home. I've been neglecting my twitter account (@kazzellin) and haven't been taking the time to clean much at all, lately. Oh, I've washed the dishes, sure; but then, if I didn't I'd be eating off disposable dishes, and I consider those both a waste of money and harmful to the environment (which doesn't keep me from buying and using plastic utincels at work, but then again I'm also prone to forgetting to pack silverware in my lunch). My only consolation in not updating anything is that I haven't been idle. I've been having a lot of fun with my cross stiching program, making custom ponies, and working on various jewelry projects. Not to mention fishing the cats out of the basement when they manage to get past dad and head downstairs. ^__^ So, despite it not being the new year (yet), I've elecgted to start working on my goals now, instead of waiting until later. Of course, one of my goals was to stabilize my financials, and to that end I've already taken up a debt management program, as of this past Spring. This means I'm down to only one credit card, and quite frankly, it's a situation that I'm happier about. My other 6 credit cards are gone, and I don't have to worry about keeping up with them. That's Novedebt's resposibility. I pay them, they pay my debtors, we're all happy. My brother and his wife recommended them, so~. Good times. That being said, I finally have some wiggle room to work on more projects, and am considerably less stressed. It helps also that mother has a job again. She's working for a lumber/hardware company in the neighborhood, and seems to be enjoying the work, which is good. She's not quite past her 90-day trial period, though, so I do have a bit of concern over that, but I try not to dwell upon it. So, goals. At the moment, my goal is to update this and my "Memoirs of a slob" blog at least once a month, and to keep steady with my twitter comments. I was thinking breifly about getting a tumblr, but I really think that should wait until I am better at updating here, first.

More financial work for me.

My checkbook tells me I have -$8.09 right now. Granted, that won't actually go into affect until the payments and everything clear, but that's what my balance is.

My online banking account is claiming I have about $75 more than I think I have.

Okay, something is off. Where? When? How?

Sadly, I don't know.

What of the unfortunate practices I fell into the habit of back when my first laptop went blooie was not balancing my checkbook with the statements the bank sends me.

I think it's very safe to say that this practice needs to change. ^^;

All I need to do is find the other check book registers that I've filed out and find all the bank statements and see where the two of them don't match. Which just goes to show that I should have kept up with that even when the first data file went bye-bye.

That's all.

This might take me awhile. ^^;

On the plus side, the imbalance isn't going the other way. That would be even more annoying.

Health challenge update

I've updated my points on the health challenge website for work. Thus far this week, I've accumulated 16 points!

I shall need to add exercise to my schedule tomorrow and see how that helps. I've been meaning to anyway - just not anymore tonight, since I've been up since 4am. ^^;

Tonight's dinner was fish, veggies and rice. Was very tasty, and from one of my Light & Tasty cookbooks. Dad liked it too, which is always a plus.

The downer is I'm still hungry, but you're supposed to be a bit hungry shortly after eating if you really want to lose weight healthily. (Loosing 20 pounds in one month technically isn't good for you, though that is what happened to me when I changed my portion sizes to what they're supposed to be.)

Changes to the blog

I have decided to separate out what I'm putting into this blog. Mainly to make things more interesting, and to make it so people who are mainly interested in my crafts aren't needing to pass by the weight loss and book posts.

This blog will now only be for my weight lose and financial goals. :)

I will have other blogs (and possibly either a tumblr or a comicpress/wordpress site) for the crafts, musical interests, language studies, mathematical studies, and my book.

News on when each launches will be pending.
